Fifth HDT site completed

Svilajnac, Serbia. Low customs duties, high flexibility, logistic advantages – only some of the advantages that favor a production “made in Europe” are versatile. In order to fulfill the requirements of the different markets last year HDT decided to build a brand-new factory in the municipality of Svilajnac, Serbia. Now the 1200 sqm sized building on the one hectare large company owned site could be completed.

Dragan Stajic, responsible for HDT in Serbia, did the final acceptance of the construction work already end of June. Right after the local authorities of the city if Svilajnac issued the official production permit. Joining the Free Trade Zone on August 1st is now only a step away - thanks to good contacts and an excellent local administration. Until late summer it is planned to finalize also the process certification according to ISO 9001 (SGS) and the product safety certification (CSA). Thus almost nothing stands in the way of a speedy production startup at the fifth HDT site.

“In Svilajnac we plan to manufacture installation and portable appliance testers as well as instruments where the production in a close distance to our R&D center is valuable“ explains Dragan Stajic to be a further advantage for the location. “Furthermore we achieve lowest cost by using our existing Asian supply chains and the benefit of low east European wages.”

Already at the beginning of 2020 HDT in Serbia started production in their premises in Belgrade – step by step all necessary production steps will now be transferred to the new factory in Svilajnac. SAP as the globally by HDT/Beha utilized ERP system was introduced in 2019 and could already prove to be a useful help for purchasing, planning and production.
